இத்தலமே நின்ற நித்திலமேIththalamay Nindra Nithilamay — Lyrics & Meaning

அம்மன் · AmmanComposed by RG Madanagopal

A reverent Tamil devotional song to Uthirapatti Amman — the pearl who dwells in this sacred place yet is the truth living everywhere. Praising her four-directional fame and Vedic-praised grace, the song concludes with the threefold Sakti — Aadi Sakti, Naga Sakti, and Veda Sakti — risen at Uthirapatti.

The Story Behind This Song

The Devi is addressed as the pearl who dwelled at this sacred place (iththalam) and yet is the truth dwelling in all places — the eternity filling the whole earth. The eight directions sing of her fame; the good direction praises her grace. Wearing wild forest flowers, with cool lotus-like eyes, the soft-blossom Lady praised by the four Vedas — if with a full heart we sing the pann-melody (devotional raga) and worship her feet, Shiva's feet too come into our grasp. Even a crore gifts of earthly wealth — are they equal to the single grace of Kothai (the Devi)? To the one wearied, she herself comes running and graces with all good. Searching through countless births, she sought us out and came at last — O Poorani! The closing verse reveals her threefold Sakti: she is the primordial Sakti (Aadi Sakti) who rose at Uthirapatti, the Naga-Sakti who removes suffering, the Veda-Sakti who protects the world.
